Problem

The following error is displayed after authorizing and authenticating with the recovery xml file (machine key) successfully at the DETech or EETech console, after you click on the DE or EEPC Remove EE or Remove DE option:

Error EF060002

After clicking OK, the following error message appears:

Error EF060002: Incorrect key
Removal Process Stopped

Cause

You've booted your system with an incorrect mismatched DETech or EETech recovery media.

For example, if the client has DE 7.1.0 installed, the DE recovery media must be constructed from the files shipped with the DE 7.1.0 package.

Solution

Boot the client with a matched version of DETech or EETech recovery media before proceeding with the encryption removal process.

DETech/EETech (Standalone)
This is a disaster recovery tool that allows the administrator to perform normal recovery functions.

DETech/EETech (WinPE)
This performs the same functions as a Windows application. The DETech/EETech Windows application can be run from PE environments. This provides a Windows-like environment and allows the administrator to recover data without having to fully decrypt the disk.

NOTE: Licensing requirements dictate that you must build these tools yourself from your licensed copy of Windows, because license restrictions prevent Trellix from distributing the necessary Windows components.
