You might need to enable debug logging for MNE when troubleshooting issues. This article shows you how to enable and disable debug logging.
You can set the log level depending on the amount and verbosity of data that you want to collect. This change can be useful when troubleshooting problems that relate to multiple MNE issues. After trace/debug logging is enabled, the debug log messages are written to the following location:
/usr/local/McAfee/MNE/var/MneTrace.log
To enable debug logging for MNE:
- Detach the mneTraceChange.sh script from this article to the Mac client.
- Open the Terminal.app application from Applications.
- At the prompt, type one of the following commands and press Enter:
sudo sh mneTraceChange.sh --loglevel #
or
sudo sh mneTraceChange.sh -l #
Here, # is a number in the range 0–6.
Log level descriptions:
0: None
1: Report
2: Alert
3: Information
4: Debug
5: Audit
6: Verbose
- When prompted, type your password to complete the process. This action allows debug logging to be enabled.
NOTE: For help on how to run the script, type sudo sh mneTraceChange.sh [-h | --help]
To disable debug logging for MNE:
- Open the Terminal.app application from Applications.
- At the prompt, type one of the following commands and press Enter to disable or turn off the debug logging:
sudo sh mneTraceChange.sh --loglevel 0
or
sudo sh mneTraceChange.sh -l 0
- When prompted, type your password to complete the process.
