Microsoft App-V

Problem

An Updater process doesn't inherit the updater rights when run from a virtual drive or path under Microsoft App-V. The Updater process can't modify the protected files and update the system.

Before proceeding, Technical Support strongly recommends that you back up your registry and understand the restore process. For more information, see the Microsoft Windows registry information for advanced users article.
Do not run a REG file that is not confirmed to be a genuine registry import file.

Click Start, Run, type regedit and click OK.
Navigate to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\swin\Parameters]
Create a dword registry value named kmodfops.
Set the data for the new kmodfops reg value as 2.
Restart the system.

NOTE: You can edit the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\swin\Parameters registry entry in Update mode or Disable mode.
