To trust the certificate, the browser must use the host name of the Manager, so the certificate and URL match. To ensure this trust, follow the steps below:
- Make sure that the Manager is accessible by host name:
- Open a command prompt from the Manager
- Type ping <hostname> and press Enter.
- If the ping fails, do one of the following:
- Add the Manager's host name and IP address to your internal DNS servers, in the same format that it's listed in the certificate.
- If you don't have access to your internal DNS server, you can add the host name to the Windows host file. You need to perform this action on each client that connects to the Manager.
NOTE: The Windows host file is located under c:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts.
- Trust the publisher of the Manager certificate. Install the certificate as a trusted Root Certification Authority on the client:
- Click Install Certificate.
- Click Start, Run, and type certmgr.msc.
- Select Intermediate Certificate Authorities, Certificates.
- Locate the Manager host name in the list of certified hosts.
- Right-click the certificate and select copy.
- Select Trusted Root Certification Authorities.
- Right-click in the right pane and Paste the certificate.
- Accept any displayed prompts.
- Restart any browsers that are open.
- Navigate to the Manager with the browser using the host name. You see the certificate as trusted.
