We try to ensure that product performance meets your needs by providing the needed database indexes. Despite this, adding specific indexes to the ePO database might improve performance. But, it is impossible to proactively ensure compatibility with every possible combination of other indexes.
So, it is entirely your responsibility to remove all custom-added indexes in the following instances:
- During escalation as requested from Technical Support.
- Before you install any of the below listed items, for your created database tables that are modified with your specific indexes:
- A Proof of Concept build
- Hotfix
- ePO update
- A new product version
After you apply a software upgrade, you can add your custom indexes back to the system if needed.
There are performance trade-offs when you add indexes. For example, creating an index to improve dashboard performance could reduce performance when inserting events into the database. It is your responsibility to rectify any performance issues introduced by adding custom indexes.
