How to change to SQL credentials for connecting ePolicy Orchestrator to the database

Environment

ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) 5.x

Problem

The Agent Handler can't connect to the database because it can't use domain credentials when the ePO server is in a domain, and an Agent Handler is installed in the DMZ

Solution

Configure the Agent Handler to use the SQL sa account.

Enable the sa account or create a SQL account

Open SQL Management Studio.
Expand Security, Logins, and double-click the sa account.
Type and confirm a password in the General tab under the logon name section.
Set Login to Enabled in the Status tab and click OK.
Right-click the database instance name and click Properties.
To enable the sa account, select SQL Server and Windows Authentication mode in the Security tab.
Restart the SQL Server service.

Change the account to use for connecting to the database

Open a web browser and go to https://localhost:8443/core/config-auth
(where 8443 is the port for the console communication).
Log on with ePO credentials.
Delete the entry in the User Domain field.
Type sa in the User name field.
Type the password for the sa account into the User password and Confirm password fields.
Click Test Connection.
Only click Apply, if the test is successful.
