File and Removable Media Protection (FRP) 5.x

Problem

When our encryption products are installed, it is not possible to successfully map Admin Shares on Windows-based systems from a Windows client.

Cause

By default, the IRPStackSize registry entry on a Windows-based system is set very low. It does not assign enough memory to support filters like antivirus (AV), encryption, and forensic products.

The more filter-type products that are installed, the more memory space is taken up. Eventually Windows default settings do not allow it to function.

Solution

The IRPStackSize registry setting must be increased. For more information, see the Microsoft article Error when you access file shares on a SOFS-configured server: Not enough server storage is available to process this command.
