CRC errors on Sensor interfaces

Problem

You see CRC errors on Sensor interfaces.

Cause

Your network or Sensor has a configuration issue:

Connected switches and network cards set to Auto-Negotiate
Sensor ports set to Auto-Negotiate
Connected switches or routers set to different speeds, compared to Sensor interfaces

Your Sensor port and connected network infrastructure equipment must be set to the same setting. Both sides must be manually set at the same speed, or both sides must be set to Auto-Negotiate.

Solution

Through the manual configuration, you must force the speed and duplex settings to a standard setting.

To configure the ports:

Open the Manager.
Select and configure the Sensor ports:
1. Click Configure, and click the <sensor name> that you want to configure.
2. Click Configure Ports. The Configure Sensor Ports window displays.
3. Click the monitoring port that you want to configure. The Configure Monitoring Port: <Port ID> window displays.
4. In Port Settings, in the Port Configuration section, check the Speed: setting. You can change this setting to either Auto-Negotiate, or to the correct speed compared to the router or switch plugged into the Sensor.
5. In the Speed: Setting, click the drop-down arrow. You see a range of speed options. Click the speed that matches the switch or router.
6. In the Duplex: Setting, click the drop-down arrow, and click the appropriate duplex setting to match the switch or router.
7. Accept the changes: Click OK.
Finalize the configuration change: Follow any on-screen prompts.
Repeat this process for all ports on the Sensor that are connected to the network.
With the Sensor still highlighted in the resource tree, click the Update tab. The Download Configuration to Sensor window displays.
Click UPDATE.
Set the ports on the Networking equipment that's connected to the Sensor, from Auto-Negotiate to Manual settings.

NOTE: If you need to modify the settings on the networking equipment connected to the Sensor, check the documentation that came with the equipment.
