Summary
Smartphones work differently compared to USB drives. They use Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) and Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP) to transfer files. DLP uses the MTP protocol to detect content when moving to or from the local drive or external storage drives when there's a Removable Storage Protection rule. However, content isn't detected when using a Removable Storage Device rule.
Solution
To block smartphones (Android or iPhone), create a Plug and Play Device Control rule by following the steps below:
