Chrome browser doesn't launch with Solidcore and DLP

Environment

Data Loss Prevention Endpoint (DLP) 11.10.100

Solidcore version 8.3.7.19

Problem

A Solidcore incompatibility issue is observed with DLP with Chrome on any Windows Operating Systems for not getting launched or closed properly.

Cause

Solidcore blocks the cmd.exe execution from chrome.exe/Msedge.exe through which fcnm.exe gets launched. On closing the Chrome browser, it doesn't get closed properly and leaves remnant processes. When these remnant Chrome processes are present and a user tries to launch Chrome/msedge, the Chromium browser UI doesn't launch.

Solution 1

Update to a later release version of Solidcore.

Solution 2

Define the following Solidcore rule with the Execution Control settings with the Action as Allow.
