DLP Discover Install fails silently

Data Loss Prevention (DLP) Discover 11.10.300 Installer
Windows Server 2019 or later

Summary

When installing DLP Discover version 11.10.300 on Windows 2019 or later, the installation might silently fail due to some missing features.

Problem

The DLP Discover service relies upon the Microsoft Message Queueing (MSMQ) service to function. When installing DLP Discover Server version 11.10.300 on Windows 2019 or later servers, the Installer doesn't install the MSMQ service during the installation, but completes the installation and reports successful. When logging into the Server after the installation, the Trellix Postresql and MSMQ services will be missing from the services list.

Cause

This issue is caused by a problem in the Installer's configuration. Owing to this error, the MSMQ service doesn't get installed and doesn't cause an installation failure.

Solution

Before installing DLP Discover on your Windows 2019 or later server, pre-install the MSMQ service. Doing this makes sure that the installation completes normally. Otherwise, if DLP Discover has already been installed, install MSMQ and then reboot the server. Doing this should result in the Postgres service appearing in the services list and the DLP Discover service starting normally.
