Summary
A fileless JavaScript-based Remote Access Trojan (RAT), known as DarkWatchman, was discovered being delivered in spear-phishing emails. The emails are spoofed and appear to be sent from a legitimate company in Russia. The RAT heavily utilizes LOLbins and contains an information stealer written in C# which is used to log keystrokes and steal clipboard data. The unknown threat actor leverages Domain Generation Algorithm (DGA) for command-and-control communication.
Our Threat Research team gathers and analyzes information from multiple open and closed sources before disseminating intelligence reports. This campaign was researched by Prevailion and shared publicly.
