Windows Server Core operating systems are reported as 'unknown'

Environment

McAfee Agent (MA) 5.7.1, 5.7.0

Problem

The operating system details aren’t reported correctly to ePO after you upgrade the system to McAfee Agent MA 5.7.0 or 5.7.1.

The incorrect reporting occurs from both of the following:

Windows 2019 Core
Windows Server 2016 Core

You observe the following in the ePO console:

The OS Platform property is shown as Unknown.
The OS Type property is blank.

Solution

This issue is resolved in McAfee Agent 5.7.2, which is available from either the ePO Software Manager, or the Product Downloads site.

NOTE: You need a valid Grant Number to access the update.

NOTE: After you install MA 5.7.2 or later, the agent properties don’t classify the core servers as a separate identity (tag). All Windows Core Servers are reported to ePO as Server.
