Endpoint Security (ENS) Threat Prevention 10.x
ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) 5.x

Problem

Creation of a downloadable agent installation package for non-Windows agents fails. An example of an agent installation package is Trellix Agent for Linux. When you try to create the agent package in the ePO console at System Tree, New System, Create and download agent installation package, failure occurs if ENS is configured to scan inside archives. The following error displays in the ePO console:

An unexpected error occurred

The orion log on the ePO server logs the following lines:

<time and date> WARN [http-nio-8443-exec-24] command.CreateCustomInstallPackageCmd - a command of type com.mcafee.epo.computermgmt.ui.command.CreateCustomInstallPackageCmd should have its resource property set
<time and date> ERROR [http-nio-8443-exec-24] servlet.ControllerServlet - Exception thrown by ActionBean:
com.mcafee.orion.core.cmd*.CommandException: Missing output file *FrameworkInstalldeb.zip in path e:\PROGRA~1\McAfee\EPOLIC~1\Server\cache\b26cdb78-b86a-4522-943f-a40a2a549074

The ...\Server\cache\ sub directory is randomly generated and might be different for your ePO installation.

System Change

The Compressed archive files option to scan inside archives is enabled in the ENS Threat Prevention on-access scan (OAS) settings.

Cause

This issue occurs due to the timing involved when you create the package on the ePO server and the OAS inspection of the created archive with the scan inside archive bit set.

Solution

On the ePO server, disable archive scanning. Disable the option Compressed archive files for the Standard Profile using one of the following methods:

Using the local ENS console
In the ePO console, at the Policy Catalog, Endpoint Security Threat Prevention, On-Access Scan policy category, Compressed archive files
