Network card initialization is delayed

Environment

Endpoint Security (ENS) 10.7.0 February 2020 Update, 10.6.1 February 2020 Update
MVISION Endpoint 2002

Problem

Network card initialization is delayed. This issue causes short-term network connectivity issues such as:

Lack of network connectivity
Disconnected mapped drives
Failure of any third parties that rely on the presence of a running network interface card, such as a VPN software suite

Cause

The cause of this problem is an issue in the SysCore 20.1 build. Multiple Trellix products use SysCore 20.1, including, but not limited to:

ENS 10.6.1 February 2020 Update
ENS 10.7.0 February 2020 Update
MVISION Endpoint 2002

Solution

This issue is resolved in the SysCore 20.3 build, which is included in the following versions of Trellix products:

ENS 10.6.1 April 2020 Update
ENS 10.7.0 April 2020 Update
MVISION Endpoint 2004

NOTE: This issue can also be resolved by installing any other Trellix product that includes the SysCore 20.3 build.

Workaround

Use either of the following workarounds.

Workaround 1:
Disable the NDIS driver. This change might impact some Firewall-related functions. Run the following from a command prompt started as an administrator:

netcfg /v /u mfe_ndisfilt

(ENS only) Workaround 2:
Install the ENS Firewall module.

NOTE: The Firewall module does not need to be enabled.
