DXL installation fails after MA 5.6.x is converted from unmanaged mode to managed mode

Problem

DXL installation is tried repeatedly on systems that were initially installed manually in unmanaged mode using the native install method.

The install fails on systems after you convert MA to managed mode and after the first policy enforcement.

Cause

Although DXL installation remediation is triggered, the install fails because the required configuration files aren't available for the installation to continue.

Workaround 1

Upgrade to MA 5.6.4 or later. MA 5.6.4 and later include extra installation options to install MA in unmanaged mode.

Workaround 2

To install MA manually in unmanaged mode, follow the steps below:

Download and extract the MA package to a temporary location. (The package is MAxxxLNX.zip or MAxxxMAC.zip.)
Copy the install_upd.sh file to the client system.
Open a terminal window on the client system.
Navigate to the folder where the installer is available.
To install MA on the client system:

Option 1 - As a fresh Install, type the following:

chmod +x install_upd.sh

/install_upd.sh -i

Option 2 - To upgrade MA, type the following:

chmod +x install_upd.sh

/install_upd.sh -b

Close the terminal window.
