Environment

ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) 5.10.0 Updates 1–6

Problem

You're unable to log on to the ePO console.

You see this issue under the following conditions:

You create a user account in ePO, and configure it to use ePO Authentication.
You then save the account. But, before you log on using the ePO Authentication account, you change the authentication type to use one of the following authentication types:
- Windows Authentication
- Certificate-Based Authentication

This action causes ePO to prompt you to change your password when you try to log on. Because you can't use ePO to change your password for a Windows-based or Certificate-based account, you can't log on to the ePO console.

Cause

When an ePO-authenticated account is created, ePO forces you to change your password on the first logon attempt. This feature isn't disabled when you change the account type.

Solution

This issue is resolved in ePolicy Orchestrator 5.10.0 Update 7, which is available from the Product Downloads site.

Workaround

Follow the steps to work around this issue:

Log on to ePO using your ePO account before you change to Windows authentication or Certificate-based authentication.
Change the password and click Save.

After you change the authentication type, you're not prompted to change your password.
