Environment

ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) 5.10.x, 5.9.x
Pre-Installation Auditor (PIA) 3.1.0.144 standalone tool

NOTE: The PIA tool was previously known as the Installation and Upgrade Precheck tool.

Problem 1

The PIA standalone tool 3.1.0.144 fails and displays the following error:

Error
Found Corrupted files

The ePIPAPI.log file records the following error:

I C:\Users\Administrator\Downloads\EPO510_2428_10_LR3\ePOIP
E Expired

Problem 2

ePO versions shipped with the PIA tool 3.1.0.144 incur the same installation and upgrade issue.

The same error appears in the ePO 5.10.0 installation wizard window:

Error
Found corrupted Files.

Cause

The issue is with certificate expiration. The ePO self-signed certificates expired on July 22, 2019.

Solution 1

For ePO 5.9 installations
If you're experiencing the issue described above, download the reposted version of the PIA tool.

NOTES:

PIA 3.1.0.189 (posted July 22, 2019) contains updated signed certificates, which resolve this issue.
The updated tool is now available as a standalone package (ePOIP310_189R4.zip).
This package is available from the Product Downloads site or the ePO Software Catalog.

Follow these steps after downloading this standalone package:

Run the standalone PIA tool on the system that you plan to install to.
Fix any issues that the PIA tool reports.
Run the ePO 5.9.x installer as recommended in the ePO 5.9 Installation Guide.

Solution 2

For ePO 5.10 installations

PIA 3.1.0.189 has been integrated into the ePO 5.10.0 installer and is now available from the Products Download site and the ePO Software Catalog:

Download the new ePO 5.10.0 installer.
To complete your installation or upgrade, follow the prompts from the installer and integrated PIA tool.

Workaround

This workaround applies only to ePO 5.10.0.

Download the standalone PIA package mentioned in "Solution 1."
Run the standalone PIA tool on the system that you plan to install to.
Fix any issues that the PIA tool reports.
Using the 5.10.0 installer, skip the PIA checks by running the installer from the command prompt:
1. Press Windows+R, type regedit in the field, and then press Enter.
2. In the Start Search field, type cmd, and then press Ctrl+Shift+Enter.
3. If the User Account Control dialog box appears, confirm that the action it displays is what you want, and then click Continue.
4. In the command window, type the following:
  
  setup.exe SKIPEPOIP=1
5. Perform the ePO upgrade through manual checks.
