ePolicy Orchestrator Pre-Installation Auditor tool flags an issue with 'SQL Server Browser Service status'

Environment

ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) 5.x
Pre-Installation Auditor (PIA) tool

NOTE: The PIA tool is also known as the Installation and Upgrade Precheck tool.

Summary

The PIA tool for ePO was run and flagged a warning on an SQL Server Browser Service status.

ePO upgrades might fail if PIA reports this issue.

Cause

This check looks at the server hosting the SQL database for ePO, and returns a warning if the 'SQL Browser Service' is not started. In some scenarios, this issue can cause the ePO upgrade to fail.

Solution

To correct the problem, perform the steps below:

Log on to the Operating System for the SQL Server hosting the ePO database.
Press Windows+R. The Run dialog box opens.
Type services.msc and then click OK.
Locate the SQL Server Browser service, and make sure that it's started and running. If not, right-click on the SQL Server Browser service and click Start.

When you rerun PIA, it no longer displays a warning for this issue after the SQL Server Browser service is started.
