ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) 5.x
McAfee Agent (MA) 5.x
Workaround
There are two workarounds that resolve this issue; you can choose either one.
Option 1: Create OS-specific tagging and base the product deployment tasks on these tags.
- Use the ePO Tag Catalog to create a new tag based on each operating system platform in your environment (for example, Windows, Mac OS X, Linux). To create a tag, perform the following steps:
- Log on to the ePO console.
- Click Menu, Systems, Tag Catalog.
- In the Tag Catalog, click New Tag.
- On the Description page, type a name and description, and then click Next.
- On the Criteria page, configure the tag to be based on the operating system by adding the OS Type property. Add as many operating system versions as needed for each tag (for example, the Windows tag might contain Windows 10, Windows Server 2012 R2). Then, click Next.
- On the Evaluation page, select whether all systems are evaluated against the tag's criteria only when the Run Tag Criteria action is taken, or at each agent-server communication, and then click Next.
NOTE: When systems are evaluated against a tag's criteria, the tag is applied to systems that match the criteria and haven't been excluded from the tag.
- On the Preview page, verify the tag summary information.
- Click Save.
- Modify each product deployment client task assignment to use these tags.
- Click the Menu, Systems, System Tree, Assigned Client Tasks tab.
- Click Edit Assignment for the client task assignment that you want to edit.
- In the "Tags" section, select Send this task to only computers which have the following criteria.
- Click Edit next to Has any of these tags and select the appropriate tag for the task type. For example, if it's a DXL Broker Linux deployment task, select the Linux tag.
- Click Save.
Option 2: Create a group in the System Tree and place the specific operating system under that group. Then, create a deployment task for that group and apply it.
- Log on to the ePO console.
- Click Menu, Systems, System Tree.
- Click System Tree Action New Subgroups, enter the Subgroup Name, and click OK.
- Place all OS-specific systems under that Subgroup. For example, you can create a subgroup that includes all DXL Brokers.
- On the same Subgroup page, click Assigned Client Tasks, click New Client Task Assignment, and create a deployment task. For example, "Create broker deployment task."
Based on the schedule type, the task is executed on all those systems that are under that subgroup.
