Environment

Management of Native Encryption (MNE) 5.0.0 and later

Problem

New users are unable to log on through the MNE 5.x Preboot authentication screen.

System Change

The problem occurs after the ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) administrator has transferred the client system between ePO servers.

Cause

MNE 5.0 can grant new users access to a system protected by the MNE 5.x Preboot using OpenDXL technologies.

The behavior is not supported after transferring such a system between ePO servers. So, access to that system is limited to those users who've previously accessed it through Preboot at least once.

Solution

After the system has been transferred to the new ePO server, Preboot must first be disabled. Then, the ePO administrator must re-enable the Preboot feature.

Take the following actions:

Disable Preboot. Configure the MNE 5.0 policy and apply it to the client.
Re-enable Preboot. Configure the MNE 5.0 policy and apply it to the client.
