Unable to uninstall after switching protection from Network Unlock to Preboot

Management of Native Encryption (MNE) 5.0 and later

Background details:

MNE 5.0 protects the system using Preboot. This feature is new in MNE 5.0 and later.
MNE previously protected the system using the authentication type Network Unlock.

MNE prevents itself from being uninstalled, regardless of whether the uninstall action is performed through either of the following:

The local MNE activity log file records the following error:

Please contact your administrator to disable McAfee Preboot via policy to allow MNE to be uninstalled

Take the following actions:

Change the protection back to Network Unlock by enforcing a policy that specifies Network Unlock as the authentication mechanism.
Verify that there are no locked drives on the system.

NOTE: The above issue can occur if ePolicy Orchestrator is configured to deny access to data drives attached to the system.
Attempt to uninstall MNE again.
