MNE 5.0 can grant new users access to a system protected by
Preboot.
Preboot for MNE only supports English-US.
Requirements:
- Data Exchange Layer (DXL)
- DXL 5.0.0 or later.
- A running DXL broker must be connected to the ePO server with all DXL extensions installed. Details of setting up a DXL broker are provided in the DXL Installation Guide.
- McAfee Agent (MA)
- Active Directory
- An LDAP server must be registered with the ePO server.
- The Preboot feature is tied to the domain to which the endpoint is connected at the time of activation. For instance, if an endpoint is on the domain 'MyDomain,' only users that can authenticate as 'MyDomain\user' are provisioned to Preboot. In addition, ePO must be configured with 'MyDomain' as a registered server to enable user provisioning from the endpoint.
- Network capability
- User provisioning within Preboot is only available on systems with a wired Ethernet connection and Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) compatible network adapter that supports DHCP and TCP/IPv4. Systems without a wired Ethernet connection such as the Microsoft Surface Pro are unlikely to support preboot user provisioning.
NOTE: UEFI does not currently support USB Ethernet adapters.
