Environment

Application and Change Control (ACC) 8.x, 7.x, 6.x
Microsoft Windows Vista SP2 Business (32-bit)

Problem

An ACC installation fails on Windows Vista clients when you run a batch file that contains the /qb+ switch. Below is an example of the batch file command:

[start /wait setup-win-vista-2008-x86-6.2.0.493.exe /v" /qb+ SERIALNUMBER=XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX SHORTCUT=0 /l+*v \"%SYSTEMROOT%\S3Setup.log""]

No errors appear to indicate installation failure and no files are created under C:\Program Files\McAfee\Solidcore or under the user temp directory.

Cause

The /qb+ switch isn't compatible with the msiexec.exe in Microsoft Windows Vista.

Solution

Use the /qb-! or /qb!- switch when you run the installation of ACC from a batch file. For details, see this Microsoft article.
