Unable to edit a File and Removable Media Protection Policy

Environment

File and Removable Media Protection (FRP) 5.x

For FRP supported environments, see KB81149 - Supported platforms for File and Removable Media Protection.

Problem

After you follow the advice documented in KB81519 - How to configure Removable Media Protection to exempt devices, you are unable to re-edit the policy.

Although you can open the policy, you can't edit any of the configuration options within the policy.

Cause

When you add the string to exempt a removable media device, the Device ID path includes a backslash (\) at the end of the Device Instance Path ID string.

Solution

We are investigating this issue. As a temporary measure, implement the workaround shown below.

Workaround

When you add a Device Instance Path ID, do not include a backslash (\) at the end of the string.
