Problem

An error displays when you try to save Microsoft Office 2013 files on shared network drives.

Example error:

Microsoft Word
Word cannot complete the save due to a file permission error. (file_name.docx)

You see this error when you use an IP address-based URL and apply an Application-Based Protection policy rule to Office applications.

Solution

When you access Microsoft Office 2013 files on shared network drives, use a host name address-based URL if you use Application-Based Protection for encryption.
