Microsoft Surface Pro 3 Microsoft Trusted Platform Module (TPM) For details of DE 7.1.x supported environments, see KB79422 - Supported platforms for Drive Encryption 7.x. ProblemAfter successfully installing DE 7.1.x, encrypting the hard disk, restarting, and activating on a Microsoft Surface Pro 3 system, the On Screen Keyboard (OSK) fails to function.
The system becomes unresponsive at the preboot authentication (PBA) screen after entering the password. One or more of the following may be observed after undertaking several system restarts:

CauseThe TPM issue has been identified as a vendor issue.
SolutionThis issue has been investigated and Microsoft has found the root cause. To address this issue, Microsoft released a system firmware update on November 18, 2014.
