The ePO console can become unresponsive when policy discovery requests or inventory updates are generated and sent to the ePO server. To avoid such scenarios, ACC can be configured to control the flow of these items to the ePO server. When the data sent to the ePO server reaches the defined threshold, throttling is initiated. Then, take the following actions:
- Stop sending data to the ePO server.
NOTE: When data is no longer sent to the ePO server, it's stored in a local cache. When the cache is full, the oldest data begins to drop from the cache.
- Reset throttling 24 hours after the first event, policy discovery request, or inventory update occurs for the day.
- Send batches of data stored in the cache to the ePO server. Start with the oldest data first.
When throttling of inventory updates is initiated, the Pull Inventory client task is disabled. This disabled state indicates that you can't fetch the inventory until throttling resets. Throttling resets 24 hours after the first inventory update for the day is generated. Sometimes, inventory generation doesn't resume after the 24-hour reset interval because of other parameters that govern the threshold. It can take as long as 27 hours to resume the inventory fetch from the endpoint.
